With the 2026 Midterms approaching, the SAVE America Act is reaching a critical moment in the U.S. Senate. The bill would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register for federal elections and help states remove non-citizens from voter rolls. Despite strong national support, Senate Democrats are preparing to block it. For Delaware voters, this debate centers on protecting election integrity and ensuring that only American citizens decide our elections.

SB 159 is the law passed after Sussex County denied US Wind’s permit to land cables at 3Rs Beach. The General Assembly then declared the project approved despite that denial. Sussex County and Fenwick Island now argue in the Court of Chancery that the State cannot retroactively override a local zoning decision, raising serious separation of powers and due process concerns.

After two campaigns, Dr. Nikki Miller has announced she will not seek election in 2026. In a message to the Sussex County Republican Committee, she expressed deep gratitude for their leadership, support, and confidence, calling her candidacy both an honor and a privilege. After thoughtful consideration with her family and team, Dr. Miller has chosen to focus her efforts on her work in education while remaining committed to serving the community.

Delaware’s Auditor of Accounts has released the FY2023 performance audits of local school district tax funds, including Seaford School District and Sussex Tech. The reviews examined tax rate setting, payroll, and procurement practices. While no fraud or misuse of funds was found, auditors identified documentation and purchasing procedure weaknesses that districts must address to strengthen transparency and accountability for local taxpayers.

A recent DUI arrest involving a Seaford man with a suspended license and five prior DUI convictions raises a serious question: how are habitual offenders still getting back on Delaware roads? While Delaware law includes escalating penalties—license revocation, ignition interlocks, mandatory treatment, fines, and jail time—repeat offenses appear to be increasing. This case underscores the need for a deeper investigation and real reforms through the DUI Prevention Task Force.

The City of Seaford is now accepting candidates for the April 18, 2026 Municipal Election. Residents interested in running for Mayor (2-year term) or City Council (3-year term) must file by February 27, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall. Candidates must meet residency, age, tax, and eligibility requirements. If you’re ready to serve your community, now is the time to step forward.

Delaware is now accepting proposals for four major initiatives under the Rural Health Transformation Program aimed at expanding healthcare access in Kent and Sussex counties. Funding opportunities include a new medical school, school-based health centers, nutrition-based “Food Is Medicine” programs, and mobile rural health hubs. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply at bids.delaware.gov as the state works to strengthen rural care and workforce development.

The deadline to file as a candidate for the 2026 Sussex County School Board elections is March 6 at 4:30 p.m., with Election Day set for May 12. Several districts, including Cape Henlopen, Delmar, Laurel, Milford, Seaford, and Woodbridge, have seats up this year. Senate Bill 215, the Fairness in Girls’ Sports Act, remains stalled in the Senate Education Committee and now depends on two Democratic signatures to advance. The bill would require student athletes to compete based on biological sex, with limited exceptions. Supporters say the issue deserves a full Senate vote, and constituent outreach could determine whether SB 215 moves forward.
