Title: Spot the Signs: Ending Human Trafficking in Our Communities Human trafficking isn’t a crime confined to the shadows or distant places; it happens in our neighborhoods, targeting the vulnerable through force, fraud, or coercion. Whether it is forced labor in local businesses or commercial sex acts, traffickers often use grooming and fear to keep victims trapped. As part of the DHS Blue Campaign, we know that awareness is our strongest weapon in prevention.

As Delaware lawmakers prepare to return to Dover, gun owners and sportsmen face renewed legislative threats. The Sussex County Republican Committee will host Jeff Hague, Executive Director of the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association, on January 12, 2026, to explain what’s coming and why it matters. The 39th District urges attendance to ensure our community is informed, represented, and prepared to defend constitutional rights.

The 2025 Delaware Climate Action Plan outlines a clear, practical path toward a cleaner and more resilient future for the First State. Developed with input from experts and residents, the plan updates Delaware’s 2021 strategy and advances the goals of the Climate Change Solutions Act of 2023, focusing on reducing emissions, protecting communities, and preparing Delaware for the impacts of a changing climate.

Thousands of Delawareans came together to honor the life and service of Delaware State Police Corporal Matthew “Ty” Snook, whose courage and selflessness embodied the very best of public service. As family, friends, law enforcement, and community members gathered in remembrance, we were reminded of the profound sacrifice made by those who protect our communities—and the deep responsibility we share to support their families and uphold the values Ty lived by every day.

Delaware Agriculture Week returns January 12–15 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, continuing a 20-plus year tradition of bringing together farmers, producers, and agricultural professionals from across the First State. The event features expert-led sessions, continuing education opportunities, industry exhibits, and networking across a wide range of agricultural topics, with new virtual options available in 2026 to support biosecurity needs.

Coffee & Conversation with State Representative Danny Short offers residents a relaxed, open forum to connect directly with their elected official and stay informed on issues impacting our community. From local infrastructure and agriculture to legislative updates, upcoming bridge closures, Delaware Agriculture Week, healthcare enrollment deadlines, and community health resources, this update highlights the importance of staying engaged and informed.

Delaware is facing a growing energy challenge as electricity demand rises while reliable power generation declines. PJM has warned that increased demand from data centers and electrification—combined with the closure of major power plants—could lead to brownouts or blackouts as early as 2026. With costs climbing and reliability under strain, Delaware must confront difficult policy choices to keep the lights on and the economy running.

DNREC has announced several leadership appointments within Delaware State Parks, strengthening management across the state’s park system. The new leaders bring decades of experience in parks, recreation, conservation, and education, overseeing operations at parks statewide, including Trap Pond, Delaware Seashore, Brandywine Zoo, and regional park systems. DNREC says the appointments support its mission to protect natural resources and expand outdoor recreation for Delawareans

Delaware Republicans are calling out renewed attempts by the state’s Democratic delegation to blame Republicans for the failures of ObamaCare. Party Chairman Gene Truono says Democrats alone created, passed, and repeatedly bailed out the law as costs rose and choices shrank for families. Republicans, he says, support patient-centered healthcare that empowers individuals—not bureaucrats or insurance corporations.

The Delaware Republican Party has launched the Delaware Cornerstone Initiative, a statewide effort to prepare the next generation of conservative leaders. Led by Sussex GOP Chair Daniel Willis, the initiative aims to equip young conservatives with the principles, training, and support needed to lead with integrity and purpose. Programs and outreach efforts will roll out in the coming weeks.

Chairman Gene Truono urges Delaware Republicans to “run smarter, not smaller” following recent elections. He calls for a data-driven strategy, stronger community outreach, and candidates rooted in Delaware values. Truono also warns that HB 255 threatens jobs, small businesses, and the state’s economic stability.
