Go to this DISTRICTS MAPS page and click on the FIND YOUR DISTRICTS tool to search on your address.

KNOW IF YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT IS HAVING AN ELECTION

  • The filing period is closed. 

  • The Cape Henlopen, Laurel, Indian River District 3, Milford and Seaford School District Elections are uncontested.

  • Delmar District, Indian River District 4, and Woodbridge School Districts have elections on May 14th.

 

KNOW THE CANDIDATES

School Board Election Date is May 14th. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • You do not have to be registered to vote in School Board Elections.

  • There is no early voting for School Board elections.

You must provide proof of identity and address, which includes:

  • Delaware driver's license

  • Delaware ID card

  • Work ID card with photo and home address

  • U. S. postal material with street address

REGISTER TO VOTE

Be Qualified

  • A Citizen of the United States

  • A Resident of Delaware

  • Will be 18 years old on or before the date of the next General Election

  • See Department of Elections (DOE) Voter Registration for additional information

You Must be Registered

  • To vote in Primary, General and any Special Elections

  • You do not need to be registered to vote for School Board Elections

Register in Time 

  • By 8/17/24 to vote in the State Primary

  • By 10/12/24 to vote in the General Election

  • At Division of Motor Vehicle offices when applying for, renewing or updating a Driver's License or State ID Card.

  • At certain other government offices, see list.

Register by Mail 

  • Call Dept of Elections (302) 856-5367 and ask them to mail you an application

For the State Primary 9/10/24

  • Deadline to change your party is 5/24/24

  • Voters registered at DMV through Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) by August 17, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. and have their party listed as No Party-AVR may change their political party affiliation up to and including on State Primary Election Day, September 10, 2024, in order to vote in their party's State Primary

  • Address Changes with the Post Office do not update voter registration

You can vote by Absentee Ballot if:

  • You are registered to vote

  • You fill out, sign and return to DOE an Absentee Statement (Application); it does not need to be notarized or witnessed

  • You are unable to vote at your assigned polling place on election day due to a reason listed on the absentee ballot application

 

Deadlines for DE State 9/10/24 Primary:

  • 9/6/24 for DOE to mail an Absentee Ballot

  • 9/9/24 for DOE to issue an Absentee Ballot

  • 9/10/24 for Absentee Ballots to be returned

 

Deadlines for 11/5/24 General:

  • 11/1/24 for DOE to mail an Absentee Ballot

  • 11/4/24 for DOE to issue an Absentee Ballot

  • 11/5/24 for Absentee Ballots to be returned

      No early voting

State Primary Election  9/10/24

      Early voting 8/24 to 8/31 and 9/3 to 9/8

General Election 11/5/24

      Early voting 10/25 to 11/3

For Early Voting Locations

  • School Board Elections have no early voting.

  • For the Primary and General elections, you can  choose from multiple early voting locations announced by DOE.

  • This sussex.gop website will be updated on voting locations when the information is available from the DOE closer to the elections.

For Election Day Voting Locations

  • Use the online tool provided by the DOE to find your designated voting district and polling place using your address.  This tool provides current polling places designated for only Election Day.  Early voting polling places will be announced by DOE closer to the elections.
