More than 50 residents attended State Rep. Danny Short’s most recent “Coffee with Danny” meeting on Wednesday, April 1. Here are some of the highlights:
Redevelopment Planned for Former Seaford Inn
Seaford Economic Development Director Trisha Newcomer announced that the former Seaford Inn property along U.S. 13 is set for renovation and redevelopment. The site has been closed for six years and has fallen into disrepair. New ownership plans to reopen the location as a Holiday Inn Express.
Power Plant Redevelopment Moving Forward
Rep. Short shared that planning and permitting efforts are progressing for the redevelopment of the former power plant site along the Nanticoke River in downtown Seaford. The project is expected to include a mix of retail, office space, and residential units, with construction potentially beginning as early as this summer.
Upcoming Seaford Municipal Election
The City of Seaford will hold its municipal election on Saturday, April 18. Completed ballots must be returned to City Hall by 3:00 p.m. on Election Day. Residents can call City Hall at 302-629-9173 or visit this website for more information.
Legislative Update and Upcoming Trip
The Delaware General Assembly is currently on Easter recess and is scheduled to return on April 14. On that same day, members of the Nanticoke Senior Center will visit Legislative Hall for a tour with Rep. Short, along with lunch and a meeting with the governor.
Monthly Coffee Meetings Continue
The “Coffee with Danny” meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Nanticoke Senior Center in Seaford. Free coffee and pastries are provided at no cost to taxpayers, and all members of the community are welcome to attend.
