New Family Court Building Opening in Georgetown
Delaware’s newest Family Court building is set to open in Georgetown this October. Rep. Short toured the $115 million, 107,800-square-foot facility and was present at the datestone ceremony, which included a time capsule. The new courthouse replaces the outdated 1988 structure, offering modern security, expanded public areas, and safer court operations.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month – “Turn the Towns Teal”
September brings attention to ovarian cancer, a “silent killer” of women. Teal ribbons are being displayed statewide to promote awareness. New Fees on Electric & Hybrid Vehicles
Beginning October 1, owners of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs)—including electric and hybrid models—will see new registration fees ranging from $60 to $110 depending on vehicle type. Lawmakers Seek Input from Food Business Owners
The Small Restaurant Regulatory Task Force, by the state legislature through House Joint Resolution 1 (as amended), wants feedback from small restaurant owners, food trucks, childcare facilities with kitchens, and entrepreneurs. Share your challenges with startup, permitting, inspections, or operations to help shape better policies. Complete this survey by October 1.
Millsboro Bypass Update

The long-discussed Millsboro Bypass is nearly complete. Citizens recently previewed the new 2.4-mile connector with a community 5K and open walk/cycle event. The road will officially open to motorists on September 23, helping divert truck and resort traffic away from downtown Millsboro.
