Now Accepting Applications for Sussex County GOP Parliamentarian Position

The Sussex County Republican Party is seeking dedicated individuals to fill key leadership positions on the Executive Board. One of the most essential roles in maintaining order and guiding our party’s governance is that of Parliamentarian.


This is a unique opportunity to step up and lead within the Sussex County Republican Party. As Parliamentarian, you will hold a visible role in the party, sitting at the table where key decisions are made and ensuring our county's growth aligns with the traditions and bylaws that guide us. Position Overview

The Parliamentarian is a non-voting member of both the Executive Board and the Advisory Board, responsible for providing guidance on parliamentary procedures and ensuring adherence to our bylaws and rules of order. The Parliamentarian also chairs the Rules Committee, which meets every two years to review and propose any necessary revisions to our party’s governing rules.


Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on parliamentary procedure and rules of order during official meetings.

  • Assist in the drafting, interpretation, and enforcement of party bylaws.

  • Chair the Rules Committee, convening in odd-numbered years to review and propose bylaw updates.

  • Present proposed bylaw revisions to the Executive Board for approval, followed by submission to the Advisory Board for ratification by a two-thirds ballot vote.

  • Attend the monthly Sussex County Republican Party meeting

  • Participate in the monthly Executive Board planning meeting (approximately one hour).

  • Provide procedural guidance to the Chair and Executive Board as needed.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be a registered Republican residing in Sussex County, Delaware.

  • Strong knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order and parliamentary procedures.

  • Experience in bylaw drafting, legal interpretation, or procedural governance is preferred.

  • Ability to remain neutral and impartial in enforcing rules and procedures.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
