The holiday season is fast approaching, and what better way to kick off the festivities than with the beloved annual Seaford Christmas Parade! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 7th at 7 p.m.—this year’s parade promises to be a magical event with the theme, Let Freedom Ring with the Bells of Christmas. It's sure to be a memorable evening filled with festive floats, holiday cheer, and of course, the timeless spirit of Christmas.
Whether you’re planning to participate or just watch the parade, here’s everything you need to know to make this year’s event a success.
Seaford Christmas Parade Rules and Registration Details
To ensure a smooth event, the Seaford Christmas Parade has a few important rules that participants need to follow:
Preregistration Required
Every parade entry must preregister by 4pm on December 2nd, 2024. Registration can be done through the official parade website or by mail.
Parade Check-In
Check-in for parade participants begins at 5 p.m. at West Seaford Elementary School. To get there, turn southbound on Sussex Avenue from Stein Highway, then take the first road on the left, Locust Street. The entrance will be on the left-hand side.
Upon check-in, each entry will receive a parade number, which must be displayed on the right side of the lead entry vehicle or float. This ensures that the judges can identify each entry clearly.
Decorations are a Must!
All entries, whether floats, vehicles, or other forms of participation, must be decorated—for example, if you have three, all three of your entries must be adorned with holiday cheer. No decorations means no entry in the parade, so be sure to get creative!
Music Matters
The parade will be filled with festive tunes, and only Christmas music is allowed to be played by entries. If you have a band or performance, you’ll have 5 minutes in front of the judges’ stand (located in the Mt. Olivet parking lot) to showcase your talents. A designated area will be marked off for performances.
Judging & Special Categories
Judging for special categories will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. during the parade lineup. So, make sure you arrive on time to allow the judges to evaluate your entry.
No Soliciting or Literature Distribution
Please remember that distribution of literature, canvassing, or soliciting funds is prohibited during the parade. Anyone engaging in these activities will be disqualified from judging.
Vendor Information
Vendors wishing to participate in the event must pay a $25 vendor fee and receive official authorization from the parade committee. For more details, please contact Alice Adkins at 443-786-3968.
City Ordinances to Follow
As part of Seaford’s tradition, all participants must comply with the following regulations:
No alcoholic beverages or drugs are allowed.
No throwing candy from moving entries—only walkers can distribute candy along the route.
Traffic control personnel will be stationed along the route, and all instructions must be obeyed.
Parade Step-Off and Route
The Seaford Christmas Parade will kick off at 7:00 p.m. sharp! The parade will start at Nylon Boulevard, travel down Pennsylvania Avenue, turn left on Market Street, and cross Stein Highway near Seaford Middle School, where the parade will disperse.
No Rain Date—Stay Informed
The parade will happen rain or shine, so make sure to check local radio stations and Facebook for any cancellations if weather conditions warrant it. There is no rain date for the event, so be prepared for a festive evening, no matter the forecast!
Trophies and Recognition
The winners of the various parade categories will be announced on the parade website, in the local paper, and on Downtown Seaford's Facebook page. Trophy pick-up will be available at Fantasy Beauty Salon, 224 High Street. Trophies must be picked up by December 31st.
