In a major announcement for the Delaware Republican Party, Chair Julianne Murray has officially resigned from her position. Her decision comes amid her new federal appointment and the need to fully dedicate herself to that role.

A letter from Letter from Chair Julianne Murray:
Dear Delaware GOP Executive Committee, Today, I am officially submitting my resignation as Chair of the Delaware Republican Party. When President Trump asked me to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, I knew it would be a serious responsibility—and I accepted it with humility and determination. That role demands my full focus and undivided attention. Since stepping away, I have fully disengaged from all party-related functions to ensure a clear boundary between my federal responsibilities and political activities. And while I originally stepped back on a leave of absence, it has become clear that my name alone has become a distraction for the executive committee from the important work ahead. My understanding is the team I helped build is working tirelessly to execute the plan we put in place. They deserve the space to lead without interference, without drama, and without sideshows. I simply will not allow my name or my position to continue to be used as a political football that slows down their progress. That’s not leadership—and it’s not who I am. Let me be crystal clear: this resignation is not about appeasing anyone. It’s about doing what is right. I’m not stepping aside because I was asked to—I’m stepping aside because I refuse to let noise from the sidelines hinder the work being done by a dedicated, focused, and capable team. Acting Chair Jim Weldin and the Executive Committee stand ready to move the mission forward. The foundation is set, the momentum is building, and the path ahead is clear. ![]() To those who would rather stir up controversy than contribute to progress—I’ll leave you to it. The rest of us have real work to do. It has been an honor to serve as your Chair. I’m proud of what we accomplished, and even prouder of the team continuing the charge. With respect and resolve, Julianne Murray |
We express our deep appreciation for Chair Julianne Murray’s leadership, integrity, and tireless service to the Republican Party of Delaware. Her principled decision to resign speaks volumes about her commitment to the mission—putting duty, honor, and progress above politics.
Though her resignation is bittersweet, we recognize the importance of her new role as U.S. Attorney and respect her decision to fully dedicate herself to that responsibility. Her efforts have laid the groundwork for a stronger, more focused Republican movement in our state.
We will carry forward with the same bold energy that Chair Murray inspired: one rooted in faith, family, freedom, and a fierce commitment to American values. The foundation is strong, and the fight for Delaware’s future continues.
Thank you, Chair Murray. Your leadership has made a lasting difference, and we in the 39th stand with you—today and always.
