The Delaware Republican Party is entering a new chapter of leadership, but not without momentum, clarity, and conviction. Chair Julianne Murray, recently appointed by President Donald Trump as U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, has taken has officially resigned from her position. In her message, Murray urges Republicans to remain steadfast, united, and bold as the party continues its mission.
Read her full statement below, followed by a response from Acting Chair Jim Weldin.
Dear Delaware Republicans, As you may or may not have heard, President Trump has asked me to take on a new role as the U.S. Attorney for Delaware. I will be honest with you—I was just as shocked as you are. But when the President asks you to step up, you do it. Over the last year, when the President’s team asked me to serve on the Platform Committee at the RNC—I did it. When they asked me to serve as Co-Chair of the Rules Committee for the RNC Convention—I did it. And when they asked me to keep pushing forward to build a stronger, more energetic Delaware Republican Party—I did that too, with the help of many of you! Sometimes, we are called to serve in ways we did not expect—and we must answer that call. Everyone knows how important law and order are to the President. They are equally important to me, and this new role allows me to do something about it. That is why, earlier this week I informed the State Executive Committee that I will be taking a leave of absence as Chair of the Delaware Republican Party. It is a leave of absence while I am in interim status. If confirmed by the Senate, I must resign.
Vice Chair Jim Weldin will serve as Acting Chair while I am on a leave of absence and will carry the torch forward. The plan we developed to lead our party into victory in 2026 and beyond is firmly in place. Nothing changes about our purpose or direction—we are one team, one party, with one goal: victory. I have full confidence in the incredible team we have built. Our Regional Chairs, Club Chairs, Executive Committee members, and trusted appointees are engaged, focused, and ready to deliver results. There will be no void in leadership—the team is moving full steam ahead. We are in a moment of opportunity. With the shifting political landscape in Delaware, Republican values are more popular than they have been in decades. Groups that never gave Republicans a second look are now paying attention. Everyone must stay focused, stay united, and stay active. As I said to you all before: Unite or die. I hope Delaware Republicans continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the tremendous team we have in place and fight to take our state back. Let’s go make history. With gratitude and resolve, Julianne Murray |

Response from Acting Chair Jim Weldin
Julianne’s message speaks for itself—when duty calls, leaders rise. I want to thank her for her unwavering service to our party and for building the strong foundation we now stand on.
As Acting Chair, I want every Delaware Republican to know this: our mission has not changed. We are moving forward—full steam ahead—with the plan, the people, and the principles that will lead us to victory in 2026 and beyond.
The infrastructure is in place. The leadership is engaged. The strategy is sound. We are not slowing down—we are accelerating.
Let this be a moment of momentum, not hesitation. If you’re ready to fight for a stronger Delaware, now is the time to lean in. Stay focused. Stay united. Let’s do the work—together—and finish what we started.
Let’s go win this.
— Jim Weldin
