Join us Wednesday, February 5th, at 8 AM at the Nanticoke Senior Center, located at 1001 W. Locust St., Seaford, DE, for another engaging session of Coffee & Conversation with State Representative Daniel Short. As always, these meetings are a great opportunity to discuss important issues affecting our community and to hear directly from Rep. Short about ongoing projects and plans.
January Recap: A Busy Start to the Year
Last month's coffee session was particularly lively, with nearly three dozen community members attending. Key topics included:
Nylon Capital Shopping Center Redevelopment: The project, also known as the Innovation Center, is making significant strides. Community Bank Delaware is set to open its new branch by the end of winter, with Bright Bloom and Vanderwende's Ice Cream among other future tenants expected to bring new energy to the area this spring.
Infrastructure Updates: Plans to improve the Old Furnace Road and Middleford Road intersection, along with replacing the nearby bridge over the Nanticoke River, are advancing. A public hearing will soon be scheduled to gather further community feedback.
Public Safety Enhancements: Seaford Police Chief Marshall Craft highlighted the recent establishment of a real-time crime center equipped with advanced technology to enhance safety and efficiency in law enforcement operations.
Woodland Ferry Operations: With new captains hired and currently in training, full ferry service is anticipated to resume in April, ending a two-year reduction due to staffing shortages.
