The 47th Annual Nanticoke Powwow is a lively celebration of Native culture, showcasing music, dance, traditional rituals, and performances that honor and preserve the Nanticoke Tribe’s history. Recognized by the State of Delaware, the event preserves indigenous traditions while raising funds to support the community center, historical museum, educational scholarships, food pantry services, elder care programs, and other local initiatives. The powwow celebrates singing to the Creator, dancing to the rhythm of the drum, and welcomes both Native and non-native participants from the surrounding community. In addition to the Nanticoke Tribe, many other Native American tribes and visitors from across the East Coast attend each year, with past events drawing up to 10,000 people and similar attendance expected this year.
This two-day event features two dance sessions each day, and Grand Entry at 12 Noon. On Sunday, there will be church service from 9–10 AM. Attendees can explore a street rod car show and dance specials with prize money. Dry camping is available on-site, with limited camping available for workers and performers.
The event will be hosted by Emcee Keit Colston, with Arena Director Urie Ridgeway. Performers include Head Dancers Adrienne Harmon and Louise Campbell, and the host drums Red Blanket of New Jersey and Stoney Creek of North Carolina.
Rules & Guidelines: Animals and pets are strictly prohibited, although service animals are permitted per ADA guidelines. No smoking, drugs, or alcohol are permitted on the powwow grounds.
