School board elections are one of the most important – and often overlooked – elections in Delaware. Decisions made at the local school board level directly impact curriculum, budgets, school safety, teacher contracts, and ultimately the future of our children.
If you are considering stepping up to serve, the deadline to file as a candidate is March 6 at 4:30 p.m. The election will be held on May 12, 2026.
Why School Board Elections Matter
School boards set policy, oversee district finances, and hire superintendents. They shape the direction of education in our communities. In a time when academic performance and accountability are under increased scrutiny, strong local leadership has never been more important.
Simply put: Better education = better opportunities for our kids.
