
2025 School Board Election
Filing Deadline: Friday, March 7, 2025
School Board Members play a crucial role in shaping the future of education in Sussex County. If you care about the quality of education and want to make a difference, now is the time to step up! This is your opportunity to help ensure that our school systems reflect the values and standards we hold dear. Get involved by voting or running for a position on the school board.
Election Date: Tuesday, May 13, 2025, 7 AM to 8 PM
You do NOT have to be registered to vote with the Department of Elections to vote in a School Board Election.
There is no early voting.
There is Absentee Voting. Go to School Board Absentee Voting for information.
Polling Places will be announced by the DOE closer to the election.
Per Delaware Code when there is only one candidate for the election for a school board seat, the Department declares the candidate elected and does not hold an election for the seat.
Voting Requirements:
Be a citizen of the United States and the State of Delaware.
Be domiciled within the school district for which the election is being conducted.
Be 18 years of age on or before the day of the election.
Proof of identity and address required. This includes:
Delaware driver's license
Delaware ID card
Work ID card with photo and home address
U. S. postal material with street address
Other reasonable documents which by themselves or in conjunction with another document can be used to identify the person and their address such as:
A State of Delaware vehicle registration card
A recent utility bill
A rent receipt
A signed Social Security Card
A telephone directory listing in a current phone book
