Senator Dave Lawson to Speak in Seaford About His Run for Delaware GOP Chair

Delaware State Senator Dave Lawson, who has proudly represented western Kent County since 2010, will be joining local Republicans in Sussex County to speak about his recently announced run for Delaware Republican Party Chair. He’ll be the featured guest at the 39th District Republican Meeting on Monday, March 31st at 6:00 PM at the Seaford American Legion, 230 Front Street. The meeting is open to the public and is a great opportunity for voters and activists to hear directly from Senator Lawson about his vision for the future of the Delaware GOP.

Lawson, a Vietnam veteran, retired Delaware State Trooper, and small business owner, says he’s running for Chair because he’s tired of watching Republicans lose ground in Delaware.

“Our messaging has been terrible,” Lawson said during a recent interview on WDEL’s Rick Jenson Show. “It doesn’t take a lot of money to change the attitude, to change the messaging so that people understand what we’re doing—and to get our candidates on the same page.”

He believes the Republican Party needs a reset—starting with clear communication, grassroots organizing, and a strong platform that reflects the needs of everyday Delawareans.

While he commended current GOP Chair Julianne Murray for her service, he says the time has come for new leadership:

“Julianne has done an admirable job as chair, and I thank her for her dedication. However, I believe it is time to introduce new ideas and strategies to strengthen our party and expand our reach.”

“We need to put the ‘party’ back in Republican Party,” Lawson says. “There’s no life to it right now, and I want to pump life back into the party and get people enthused.”
