Ensuring DEGOP's Future: Julianne Murray Announces Re-Election

Julianne Murray

When Julianne Murray took on the role of Chair of the Delaware GOP in 2023, she had a clear vision: raise the party’s visibility, unify its members, and drive up Republican voter turnout. Now, as she announces her bid for re-election, she reflects on the progress made and the challenges still ahead.

In just two years under her leadership, the Delaware GOP has seen significant strides in all three areas. Visibility has increased, party unity has strengthened, and voter participation has reached record highs. However, the road to these achievements was anything but smooth.

Upon assuming office, Murray quickly realized the dire financial state of the party—something she had not fully anticipated. Faced with a multitude of urgent financial and structural issues, she immediately assembled a trusted team and began tackling the most pressing problems. The early months of her tenure were marked by difficult decisions, resistance from within the party, and a determination to turn things around.

Despite these obstacles, Murray remained steadfast in her commitment to moving forward rather than dwelling on past missteps. She made a conscious decision to focus on solutions, even when met with opposition. In hindsight, she acknowledges that keeping the full extent of the party’s struggles under wraps may have led some to underestimate the work that had to be done to rebuild. However, the results speak for themselves.

Under her leadership, the DEGOP overcame its financial woes, secured a new headquarters through a generous in-kind donation, and significantly reduced expenses. Additionally, statewide task forces were established to streamline efforts, and technology was leveraged through the launch of the DEGOP app—a tool that rivals national efforts like those spearheaded by Scott Presler. These initiatives contributed to an impressive 75% statewide Republican voter turnout in the November 2024 election, with 40% of voters taking advantage of early voting.

One of the things I am most proud of is within months of my tenure the DEGOP was finally solvent, which made it possible to accomplish those things.

While these accomplishments mark a significant turnaround for the party, Murray remains focused on the broader challenge ahead—Republicans in Delaware are still vastly outnumbered in voter registrations. The recent election results reinforced the importance of narrowing this gap, and she is committed to developing new strategies to expand the party’s base.

As she seeks another term as Chair, Murray is clear in her mission: to build on the momentum of the past two years and ensure that the DEGOP continues to grow, strengthen, and win. With a proven track record of leadership and results, she is ready to lead the charge once again.
